My background

Born in Khvet Village, Phrek kpop commune, Sangker District, Battambang province, 1982, I was the only child after my older brother had died while he was only 1 year old. Subsequently, one younger sister was born in 1984. Due to my father work as a policeman, we had to move to Battambang town in the late 1985. Then I started kindergarten in Vat Leap School in the early 1986 with my sister taught by my relative who lived with us. I graduated high school in 1998 and moved to live with my relative in Phnom Penh to study computer, English, and private class to prepare for university. Unfortunately, I failed all my exams and my parents couldn’t support my study anymore because of business problem. Then I had to give up my study to work as the government staff in Department of Rural Development of Pailin Municipality in the late 1999.

Working in Pailin, I was the young staff who got strongly help and encouragement from the director. In addition, for almost 4 years, I had lots of experiences from being the director assistant and administrator responsible for observation note writing, reports, and computer and photocopy maintenance, and also the field coordinator for Seila program. Success in work but I found out that my education was too low, so I decided to ask my director for the permission to suspend my work for a while in order to continue my study.

I was really interested in learning English and Computer at that time. To reduce my parents’ expense for my study, I had a chance to work as computer instructor at PLUS center (SMART presently) where I could improve a lot of programs such as designing, spreadsheet function, repairing, network or Internet connecting, and especially, I had been making a good relationship and corporation with all coworkers trying hard together to manage and run the center successfully within high quality and quantity. Since the late 2004, I spent lesser and lesser time there for the reason that I started the university class, however. More to the point, from studying English at ACD and CORERR, I was able to start the first teaching without pedagogy for the handicapped students at Apostolic Prefecture (Pet Yeay Chy) and the young dancing students at Apostolic of Tahen. Anyway, I was called back to Pailin without protestation, so that I got a sharp chance to continue learning and teaching computer and English. Nevertheless, I still have kept in touch with SMART computer till nowadays.

I was designated to work for Mine Action Planning Unit (MAPU) by my director deputy of Provincial Mine Action Committee (PMAC). Then I started the innovative work in the begging of 2006 with the position as the District Operation coordinating prioritization and selection of demining tasks for annual demining workplan, investigating minefields, monitoring clearance process and post-clearance land use. With this work, new high technology is required for training the staffs including GPS (Geographic positioning system) using, drawing sketch maps, GIS (Geographic Information System), and other trainings are providing more and more; such as Land management law, forest and environment law, communication skill, PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal), and Gender mainstreaming strategy. Coincidentally, one of my colleagues, from City hall, was sent to study at Royal Administrative for several years, so that I was selected to replace him as the Database and GIS officer. Since that time, by supporting from my technical advisor, AVI (Australian Volunteer International), I have had a good skill making maps, data controlling and analyzing, land plots measurement and creation, and English improvement. My team leader is really understanding, kind, smart, and good common, so I have closed relationship with him and his family.

Work and study at the same time allows me to have not as much of time to spend for my study, but with the weekend class I still receive the high qualified education. I have studied at UBB, promotion 8, year 4, semester 2 (time creating this page). After I had studied MOT (Management of Technology), I was able to create this page for my assignment and also for shearing with all of you. According to this page hosted, I hope I will get benefit from it by giving me a lot of new, good in common friends. End of all, I would like to thank lecture Seng Cheyvuth who has provided me an appropriate knowledge and chance to create this page.
